Supports
Building bonds between units.
Overview
Each unit has a list of other compatible units that they can build support with. Once a pair of units have built enough support with each other, they will unlock a support conversation that can be initiated in battle by choosing the "Support" command when adjacent to each other. Building support between units gives the player some nice insight into each unit's personality and backstory, while also providing bonuses in combat.

Support Point Thresholds
The support points between units is maintained internally by the game. Once two units reach a certain threshold of point, they will unlock a support conversation by using the "Support" command when adjacent to each other. No additional support points can be gained until the conversation has been viewed. The following table lists the point thresholds for each support level.
Support Level | Total Points | Delta |
---|---|---|
C | 60 | +60 |
B | 120 | +60 |
A | 200 | +80 |
How to Build Support
To build support between two units, simply place them adjacent to each other by the end of the turn. Each unit pair (that can support with each other) has a hidden value for how many support points they will gain for each turn that they end next to each other. To go along with this, each pair of units also has a base support point value, which is how many points they have the moment both units are on your team.
For example, Roy and Lilina have 56 base points, with a gain of 4 points per turn. Hence, once you reach Chapter 8 (where Lilina joins), Roy and Lilina only have to end one turn next to each other to gain the C support. Project Ember has drastically sped up the rate at which most unit pairings can build support. Each unit can have up to 5 support conversations, and you can only gain 120 support points across all unit pairs per chapter.
Support Bonuses
Units that like each other fight better when together.
Getting Bonuses
Any two units that have at least a C support will gain support combat bonuses when they are within 3 or less tiles of each other. These bonuses will stack additively when there are multiple support partners within range, and apply during both player phase and enemy phase.
Bonus Values
The bonuses given to each unit pair depends on their affinities and support level. Each affinity has set bonuses for each support level. Units with support between them will gain the bonuses for both affinities, for example if Roy (Fire) and Lilina (Light) have attained a C support and are within 3 tiles of each other, they will each gain 1 Atk, 0.5 Def, 5 Hit, 2.5 Avo, 5 Crit, 0 Crit Avo during combat. Any bonus decimals are rounded down. The following table lists the bonuses at each level for all affinities.
